The Mongol Rally is a 10,000 mile journey “a third of the way around the earth, from Europe to Mongolia, via a plethora of countries most people haven't heard of in a car that has an engine with no bigger than one litre.”
It also raises thousands of pounds for a host of good causes, including Mercy Corps and the Christina Noble Children's Foundation.
And guess what? Evoluted Director Gareth Davies will be taking part in this insane odyssey this summer, all in the name of charity and adventure.
From Goodwood to Ulaan Baatar
As part of a three-man team (named “For Those About to Rally We Salute You”) and driving a red Suzuki Swift, Gareth begins his epic voyage in July. After setting off from Goodwood Racecourse and travelling through such exotic nations as Romania, Moldova, Ukraine, Russia, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan, the team's aim is to reach the Mongolian capital by September. That's assuming they can keep their car, not to mention themselves, in one piece!
Announcing his plans, Gareth said:
“The Mongol Rally is a ridiculous challenge in many ways - one which throws things like common sense and health and safety out of the window. But it's a challenge I just couldn't resist. The Rally also raises a lot of money for some brilliant charities - £200,000 was raised in 2007, and it would be amazing if we could help to raise even more in the 2010 Rally.”
Sponsoring Gareth and his team is easy via the Mongol Rally website, where you can also find out more information about the event and the charities that will benefit.
The whole Evoluted team wishes Gareth the best of luck and a safe journey. We'll be providing updates here on our new News section throughout the Rally.
