New web design for cutting crime

It would be a crime for Evoluted if we didn't show off our latest completed web project - for the Business Crime Reduction Centre (BCRC).

The BCRC is an initiative which helps small to medium enterprises (SMEs) in the Yorkshire and Humber region to tackle problems caused by crime. Funded by Yorkshire Forward, the Regional Development Agency, its services include providing e-crime advice and support, advice on protection against web threats, crime hotspot information, physical and ICT security assessments and recommendations, advice on electronic fraud and events and seminars for businesses.

The initiative was looking for a brand new online approach to enable it to better assist the region's SMEs and that's where Evoluted came in!

First we took the BCRC's existing branding and created a custom graphic design to give its new website a fresh, clean and contemporary feel which is easy for users to navigate.

Next our technical experts used their skills to develop a bespoke implementation of our existing and successful Content Management System (CMS) which enables the BCRC's admin team to take full control of the website's content. They can quickly upload news articles and events and are able to easily create sub-categories and pages within the main sections of the site. The tailor-made CMS also enables them to upload videos to all pages.

A unique feature of the CMS is a ‘form builder' which allows BCRC admin to create customised forms for capturing user data at the front end of the website. This enables them to specify the number and type of form fields they wish to use and where on the website they would like them to appear.

The administrators are also able to turn on user commenting facilities on individual site pages, providing a useful tool for interaction with website visitors. All comments initially go through a moderation facility in the CMS, allowing BCRC admin to ensure they are suitable for publication before being visible on the website. 

Additionally, our team at Evoluted incorporated a members section into the website which gives access to restricted content. Not only that but we developed a member messaging facility which lets BCRC admin inform all site members of important announcements and news - ensuring members are always kept informed about the latest crime updates.
