North East Movies is a free online resource for filmmakers based in the North East of England. The website allows filmmakers to upload and distribute their short films to a worldwide online audience. Developed in partnership between North East Regional Screen Agency Northern Film & Media and digital media company Funkigroup, the service positively encourages submissions from all residents of the North East region.

Our Role

We worked as an integral part of a team assembled by Funkigroup who delivered the project. The website allows visitors to watch, share, vote and comment on films. Free films can be downloaded for use on iPods, Sony PSPs and Mobile Phones. A user account facility allows filmmakers to upload their films in various file formats. The films are then automatically converted into Flash movies for online viewing in a customised Flash video player and for download to various devices. A flexible Content Management System enables the staff at North East Movies to moderate uploaded content, keep the website up to date with new information and launch new film series.
