We're back with our series exploring the Evoluted team's spare-time projects and hustles - and this time we're shining a spotlight on Senior Digital PR Specialist Jo Rammell's baby sleep coaching business!

Tell us about your side project, Jo, and how it started.

I was on my maternity leave from Evoluted and my little boy was waking lots overnight - not just a couple of times, but 10 times plus. I was so overwhelmed, so I reached out to an infant sleep coach and she changed my life!

I was so grateful, and then a fire started in me. I wanted to do that for parents. I wanted to help those struggling with debilitating sleep deprivation feel the same relief I did when I finally got some sleep.

So I completed my training during maternity leave and passed to become a fully certified, accredited baby and child sleep coach.

It’s important to me that I always offer gentle methods that align with their parenting style, and now I’m really proud to have helped so many parents and children get a good night’s sleep!

How has working at Evoluted helped your side project?

Firstly, I didn’t want to come back full time in PR after maternity leave as I was desperate to still spend lots of time with my son, so Evoluted has allowed me to reduce my working days down to part time. This also means that I have the mental space to help parents in my spare time with this side project.

Working in digital marketing and at Evoluted meant I was comfortable creating the website for my side project myself (saving me lots of money), and I love writing content for my audience.

Jo (far right) with our Content Marketing and Digital PR team

I was open about my side project from the start with Evoluted and they’ve been supportive from the outset. When I mentioned that I wanted to grow my social media, they offered me some pro bono help and I’m so so grateful. (I used to do some paid social media back in the day, but it’s all completely changed now - setting up tracking and integrations is a total minefield too, so I really needed that support!)

I’ve worked with the Evoluted content team to come up with social content pillars, and ideas for reels. The paid social team has also effortlessly set up the tracking on my site and they are running several ads for me - I don’t have huge budgets of course, but I’m already seeing brilliant results, and I’m so thankful.

What has been your highlight running the business so far?

My highlights are always the messages I get from parents when we make a breakthrough. It’s so rewarding, and I’ve been there, I know how much it will have helped them as a family.

What are your plans for the future?

I just want to continue helping families that are all desperate for a good night’s sleep. But… that involves lots of hard work from me to make sure they know that help is out here - and that there are lots of gentle methods now.

I plan to continue growing my socials and work on some larger content pieces to get my face and brand out there. And of course, I’ll be using my digital PR skills more to get more press coverage!
