Photoshop Basics: How to Flip an image in Photoshop
In this blog post, I will show you how to quickly flip an image in Photoshop CC.
It can be a common occurrence when working on a design that you may need to flip an image so that it is better suited to your layout.
Step 1 - Your design file
Here is our website banner design mock up. As you can see, we have a text area to the right above a black background. We would like to have the text sat above a nice image background.
Step 2 - Add your image layer
Simply drag in your chosen image into your design file and position the layer above the background and under any layers you wish to show above your image. The main focus of our image (surfer silhouette) is currently hidden by our text area.
Step 3 - Flip your image layer
To flip your image layer, simply go to the top menu and click "Edit > Transform > Flip Horizontal".
Step 4 - Finished image
Now our image has been flipped. You may like to adjust the scale and/or position of your image further using the Free Transform tool.
If you are working on a single image file and not a layered design file, you can flip your image by going to the top menu and clicking on "Image > Image Rotation > Flip Canvas Horizontal".
