Google Has Unleashed Mobilegeddon

As previously reported by Evoluted, Google launched its “mobile-friendly” ranking signal on April 21st, which has become known as “Mobilegeddon” in the search industry.

Websites that aren’t deemed to be mobile-friendly are likely to suffer a significant decrease in visibility for searches performed on mobile devices.

It’s now estimated that Google deems over 75% of websites to be mobile-friendly. If your website is part of the 25% that isn’t deemed mobile-friendly - and your competitors are part of the 75% - your website is likely to see a decrease in organic referrals from mobile devices.

Google has provided a useful tool to help website owners assess how mobile-friendly their websites are and suggests what can be done to make them more mobile-friendly.

Last week, Google announced that, “more searches take place on mobile devices than on desktop computers.” It is therefore more important than ever to ensure your website is mobile-friendly.
